Hello! Read on for the latest and greatest.

11.07.08 Shannon's video for citysearch is up on blog.salontrilogy.com!

10.27.08 Finally got the cruise pictures up... only a month later.

09.30.08 More updates to salontrilogy.com. I finally got some of Karim's photos up as well as the Mailing List. Working on bios this weekend. And I still haven't put up the pictures from the cruise... I am slacking.

09.21.08 Just got back from a week long cruise to Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico. I definitely could have stayed there a bit longer. The ship had unlimited 24-hour soft serve ice cream, I'm surprised I didn't have to be rolled off the boat. But I think my favorite part was swimming with the stingrays :) Pictures should be up tomorrow!

09.08.08 I've been feverously working away on blog.salontrilogy.com and it's finally up!

08.27.08 So I ran out of space on my picasa, turns out google only gives you a gig. Now I have a flickr account. I'll be slowly migrating over all of my pictures but for now check out the photos section for what's new.

08.26.08 Happy Birthday Amar!!

08.22.08 :)

08.21.08 Happy Birthday Mom!!

08.17.08 So it has come to my attention that nowhere on my site do I mention Boka Designs. Since I "freelance" for them, I guess I should help promote. Go check our their site!

08.14.08 Michael sketched out a logo for A Cup in his Moleskine and created a digital version. It's still preliminary and needs refining but check it out in the cupcakes section.

08.10.08 JustinMilaski.com is finally up. I used the LongTail Video JW FLV Media Player. It's pretty flexible with the flashvars and has a setup wizard which is pretty sweet.

08.06.08 More updates to SalonTrilogy.com including the products and services list and news. Salon Trilogy now has a fan page on Facebook, so go become a fan!

08.01.08 Today is August 1st, and if you know anything about anything, you know that for the next 22 days I will be driving everyone crazy. Get ready!

07.31.08 I started working on a site for a friend (justinmilaski.com). It's my first time working with flash videos and overlaying DIVs, it's fun stuff.

07.29.08 Added more pictures, specifically Artem and Emily's wedding! Mmmmm chocolate wedding cake...

07.27.08 New nav bar up on salontrilogy.com thanks to Alek! The site is coming together, now if I can just catch up with Shannon, we can get some traffic coming in...

07.18.08 I've made a purchase today that is going to give me an edge over the Vermonster this year. It's an 8.5" ice cream spoon. You see those Ben and Jerry's people are sneaky, the put all the ice cream on the bottom so that you have to eat through all the brownies, cookies, hot fudge, whipped cream and nuts before you get to the good stuff. But now I've got the right tools. Oh believe you me, I am getting my picture on that wall.

07.17.08 Revamping the "photos" section, check it out!

07.15.08 Gladly, I have been working on Shannon's site for Salon Trilogy. I realized that it is quite a different beast to create a website for a brick and mortar business than it would be for an online business. You need to capture a potential client's attention and impress them enough so that they actually go to the physical location. I am so up for the challenge :) Check out my progress from the "portfolio" section.

07.11.08 I have been learning Ruby on Rails for the past 4 weeks and I finally have my first application working. The application retrieves certain data from a database and displays it to the user. It also allows the user to sort the columns of data ascending or decending using Ajax. Yay!

06.08.08 Finally added some content to the "about" section!

06.01.08 The site is up...again. I have been neglecting my personal site for quite some time now, but now I have more free time to dedicate to it :).

A little about me...

Hi, I'm Anita. I wanted to create this site so I could keep track of myself. I like to try and do many different things with web development as well as other stuff.

At the moment "other stuff" is cupcakes. I love cupcakes. What could be better than a personal sized cake? I want to bake cupcakes and sell them. My only hurdle is that I know nothing about running a business. But this will be a good learning experience in the culinary arts, retail business and marketing. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Photos

This wasn't technically my first cruise, but since I was 9 the last time, this is the first one I remember. I had a blast, it was exactly like the Carnival commercials, except for the para-sailing...

I wanted to reminisce on days gone by, so for my birthday we did a "tour" of back bay. Well it was supposed to be, I didn't make it far. In fact, it ended at Rattlesnake with my view of my old office...

Check out pictures from Artem and Emily's wedding - July 20, 2008!

These are old pictures from Chris's birthday, but I felt the need to put them up for the creepy factor of the "Pictures with Josh". No one knows how it happened, it just did.

I recently attended a bachelorette party at the Amber Room in Nashua, NH. Good times were definitely had Saturday night, followed by not-so-good times on Sunday morning...

For the 4th of July we all went to Oxford, Maine. It was such a relaxing trip I didn't want to come back. I attempted wake boarding but ended up falling flat on my face...multiple times.

So I had planned and booked a trip to Vegas in March to go in May. It was all so great, a nice break from work at America's playground. I got laid off from my job 4 days before the trip, best thing that ever happened to me!

For New Years we all hiked up to Vermont and stayed at a cabin on Mt. Snow. Hung out in the cabin while it was snowing on the mountain and even went snowboarding, as Screech would say, we were "ridin' dirty" the whole way down.

Last year we did an all inclusive vacation to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I have to say that hands down it was the best vacation I have ever been on. White sand, clear blue water, and unlimited food and alcohol for 6 days :D

We attempted to go camping back in 2006. I say attempted because the trip was cut a day short due to a biblical-like flood. We toughed it out for 2 days. It got to the point where our tents were beginning to float away while we were sleeping in a pool of water. I can't say I had a terrible time though, 2 years later and I still remember every detail about the trip.

Portfolio

Here are some of the projects that I've worked on.

Salon Trilogy is a full service salon in Newton, MA. The goal with this site is to incorporate a quick, non-intrusive Flash introduction followed by a smooth, earthy, Web 2.0 web site. Some of the things I am hoping to eventually incorporate into the site are a virtual tour of the salon, an interactive Google Map for directions, a mailing list and comments section and Google Ad Sense. I want to accomplish all of this using basic web design techniques, Flash and Ajax.

JustinMilaski.com is a site for a friend who is a videographer and editor. In the case of this site, Justin came up with the design and I simply made it work. Each link plays one of his videos in the center square for which I used the LongTail Video JW FLV Media Player.

Simply Eula is an initiative I am starting to provide summaries of common End User License Agreements (EULAs). Many people don't read these License Agreements because they are long and filled with legal jargon, but you'd be surprised at what some of the text is actually saying and what most people don't know they are agreeing to.

The site is being constructed using Drupal so that users can add and update the summaries as well as leave feedback on any of the information or processes.

Fresh Air King was a quick, simple, one-page site for ordering custom air freshners with information on the product and a simple order form.

Warwick Fasteners is a harware company is Warwick, RI. This site was originally created entirely in Flash which proved to be problematic when updates needed to be made since the company did not have the raw Flash files. This prompted the need to recreate the site in a more updateable format. The site was recreated in HTML/CSS while leveraging some of the Flash movies used for the original site. The end product was a more easy to manage and update site that looked almost exactly like the original Flash site.

Anita Cupcakes - My latest venture is baking cupcakes. The hard part is being innovative. Check out my creations and notes here.

09.01.08 I found this recipe for White Chocolate Matcha Mint Coconut Cupcakes (it's a mouthful, literally!). My little twist on the recipe are the coconut shavings on top. These cupcakes are definitely making it into the recipe box. The cake itself is light and a good bed to showcase the white chocolate matcha mint frosting. The frosting is more creamy and less sweet which is a nice surprise. I had to add more peppermint oil and matcha powder (double of what the recipe called for) to offset the buttery taste. In the end though, they were delicious!

08.14.08 Preliminary logo for A Cup Cupcakes courtesy of Michael.

08.01.08 So Alex thought of a name for my little venture - A Cup Cupcakes. I like it. It's simple and I can play on the name. Now I wonder if two cupcakes in a bra would be a little too out there for a logo...
